There are few better places to enjoy a snowy day outdoors than the parks around Berrien County. With snow-covered trails, crisp air, and peaceful landscapes, these parks are the best setting for cold-weather adventures. From sledding to cross-country skiing, there is so much to do, and our real estate agents compiled a list of some of the top parks to check out in the wintertime.
With nine stunning miles of hiking trails that wind through a variety of habitats, Love Creek County Park offers some gorgeous winter scenery. It's also the perfect place for cross-country skiing, and rental equipment is available at the park. There is also a 3.5-mile beginner/intermediate mountain biking trail. This beautiful park is just a short drive from some of our favorite Berrien Springs homes for sale.
If snow tubing is one of your favorite winter activities, you should check out the tubing hill at 5 Pine Ministries, a local camp and retreat nonprofit. Public tubing takes place Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and tickets are $13 per person or $45 per family household. Private tubing and group events can be scheduled in advance.
One of the area's best local parks, Grand Mere State Park offers so many year-round activities, but it's a prime destination for cross-country skiing and hiking in the winter. This park has several huge sand dunes that were formed 10,000 years ago during the recession of glacial lakes. Today, they make for amazing sledding hills. We highly recommend taking a stroll on the 3.6-mile loop trail, which offers breathtaking views of Lake Michigan.
Located just south of these stunning Niles homes for sale, Madeline Bertrand County Park features beautiful trails that wind through pine and oak forests. This park is a popular place for:
The park has covered shelters and an indoor lodge, which are perfect for wintertime gatherings. There is a daily entry fee of $3 per vehicle for Berrien County residents and $50 for non-residents.
Warren Dunes State Park is 1,952 acres and one of Michigan's most breathtaking parks; it's absolutely gorgeous in the winter. This park also features dunes, which are perfect for running, climbing, or sledding. There is also a three-mile cross-country skiing loop trail that takes you through beautiful wooded areas. Be sure to take a minute to snap a few photos of the snowy vistas!
